how to replace content of the datasetrow

Hi Experts

I would like to know how to replace content of dataSetRow while generating report. For example query returned following data from database.

dataSetRow[column] = "column1=value;column2=value;column3=value"

The above dataSetRow value is concatenated value of all the column names and values.

i need to re-format the column2 value and re-add column2 value again.

is it possible to do this in birt reporting? if please suggest some solution.

So the dataset only returns one column? The values are nested in a string in that one column?
If so you should be able to split the string in a binding expression for each column you want to create. If you want an example of this let me know.

Thanks for your reply. Yes dataset returns all the column values with delimiter ;:

And in the rptdesign file we are replacing \n with that delimiter. But my requirement is to check for one column value and i need to format in my own way.

Can you provide sample example for that.

You should be able to do this in the table bindings or in the data item that uses it. Can you write a simple example that shows what is happening and then explain what you need? If you can do that I will modify the report to do what you want.

Is it possible to show no.of rows in message box fetched from the database from the report. Can you provide some example for that?
