Difference between BIRT ON DEMAND and Actuate Birt
Prajakta
If I have reports already created in Birt can I use actuate to show them and make them configurable by the end used?
What is Birt on Demand.. What is its use? What is the difference between BIrtONDemand and actuate?
Actuate show several products? Do we need to purchase all or any individual product can wrk seperately?
Do we need I server for this ,how is its hosted without Iserver in BIRT on demand?
I have the following requirement.
1. Web-based reporting and supported on multiple platforms ? windows note-pad, table PC or smartphones, etc.
2. Configurable/personalized dashboard features based on client preferences.
3. Separate authentication and have role-based security
4. Provide wide range of complex reporting features including sorting, download to PDF/CSV formats, etc.
5. Extendable to include OLAP
Finally I want someone to suggest a low cost solution to the above requirements.
Thanks and Best Regards,
Prajakta

Yes, the commercial version of Actuate can display reports made in BIRT as long as the BIRT version is prior to the one used in the commercial version. So, you can use BIRT 2.3.2 reports in Actuate 10 and Actuate 11 with no problem.
BIRT on Demand is an "in the cloud" version of Actuates iServer product. It allows you to deploy BIRT reports to the cloud.
In terms of what you purchase, Actuate has several licensing options. You can go as basic, or add on as much as you'd like.
Based on the requirements, you would want to look into the BIRT on Demand, or iServer Express products. Both of these options meet your requirements and are lower cost than a full blown installation.

Hi Prajakta,
BIRT reports you have already created can be used with the BIRT iServer
(download evaluation at
http://www.birt-exchange.com/be/downloads/)
or your same reports can be uploaded to BIRT onDemand which is the BIRT iServer running in the cloud
(sign up at
https://www.birtondemand.com/bod/home/)
All of those features you wanted are available either way. If you want to talk to someone directly about your requirements then use the 'Contact Us' link at the top of this page.
