workflow file operations

Is there a way to manipulate which options are available for a certain file in workflow. For example, we are using an external task to kick off a script, if the file is rejected, the user needs to revisit the metadata on the file. But, from within workflow, there is no "Set Metadata" on the File Operation drop-down for the task. Any ideas on how to fix this?

What do you mean by if the file is rejected? Do you mean if a particular task is rejected? Be more specific about what you are trying to do.

Sorry for being a little too vague. If the task is rejected, I need the usertask to have 'Set Metadata' as a File Operation

You probably want a new usertask then that mimics your original one but has an extra successor in it for Set Metadata.
