RepBIRT
Hi,
Could anyone tell how to schedule reports in BIRT.

To my knowledge there is no built-in way to schedule reports in the open source BIRT.<br />
<br />
However you can still schedule reports using OS-level functionality - make sure you can run your report using using genReport.bat (or genReport.sh on linux) and then schedule it using Windows Task Scheduler or Linux Cron.<br />
<br />
Another option is to write a java application that uses the Quartz Scheduler, but unless you've already gone down this route this is much more complex than using genReport.<br />
<br />
This blog might help: <a class='bbc_url' href='

Hi,
in our Project we have written a "stand-alone"-runner for Birt Runtime 3.7.
Out of our main Web-App we have used the Quartz Scheduler to schedule the Engine with different Parameters.

Out of interest, what does your stand-alone runner do that genReport doesn't?

In fact the problem was the Excel Export. I have generated my reports and after that, i imported them with HSSF-API to formate them.<br />
<br />
Actually the benefit of my runner is that i can handle different types of reports with different parameters I give to it. Maybe it is now possible with genReport, because I we use another Emitter for Excel Export.<br />

Oh now you do have my interest, which one did you choose and why?<br />
<br />
Of course, you should feel free to ignore me if I'm being too nosey.

No Problem.
We already talked about it in following Topic:

The problem with spudsoft Emitter was, that it wasn't really well formatted and it can't produce images as Output.
I worked a long time with importing the Excel-Output with HSSF-API and genereted new Excel-Files which meet my expectation.
But in the past there were a lot of Bugs and fixes I had to do.
So we tried the Arctorus Emitter the last days. And it is doing what we want to.
Greets,

<br />
Ah yes, but we never got to the bottom of why your images/charts weren't appearing, because the SpudSoft emitter has supported them from the start (except in headers/footers, which I only recently added support for).<br />
<br />
No worries, I'm glad you're happy with the Arctorus emitter, it does sound like their latest version is the best general purpose Excel emitter (if you don't mind the cost).<br />
