Symbolic link directory goes away
Bowker
OD base: w2k / od 5.5
OD rcvr: Solaris 2.8 / od 5.5
In our site we have a "symbolic link" pointing to the folder "ars". This folder is managed by our networking team and the content is NOT within teamsite.
OD is replacing the symbolic link with a directory. This brings down our site since the ars directory is required for our networking router to see that the site is up.
What is causing this or how can I prevent it?
The deployment is attached as conversion.txt (since xml files are not allowed to be attached)

Do you have the followLinks rule specified as "no", or not specified at all ("no" is the default)?
(Sorry, I couldn't see your attachment.)

We don't have followLinks specified.
The directory structure is:
/www/ars
The root of the deploy is /www/ the folder /ars is the symbolic link that is being corrupted.

Is the sender host really Windows? If so, OD won't preserve sym links because that is a Unix feature.
If you want to deploy something from Win to Unix and have the result be a sym link, I believe you'll have to do some DNR post-processing to touch up the deployed file or directory.

Thanks for the help - our networking group decided to make the folder a virtual directory within the web server pointing to an area outside of our docroot.
That solved our problem, but didn't correct the issue of OD removing the symbolic link.
