Performance drilldown & analysis for Report JDBC connection
legolas
Am trying to analyze the performance of a report generated using run servlet, while connecting to oracle database to fetch the data.

We observed performance degradation of the report, when we run our report on a clustered environment on some of the instances. When the request hits a different box on the cluster, the performance is good.

In the attached log, is the list of actions performed by the rpt and the time taken by each of them.

On analyzing the report attached, we observed that there is a spike from line 194 and 206. There is a 40 second delay that we saw when the db query is "SELECT ? FROM DUAL" which we are not performing from our end.

Is this added by default by the run servlet of the birt engine ??

Can someone confirm if "SELECT ? FROM DUAL" is fired by the BIRT engine to ensure the database connection is available ?

I do not think BIRT makes this call. Maybe the jdbc driver does.
