integrating html gadget with other gadgets

we are stuck in a situation where we want to integrate html gadget with other gadget like chart etc.the problem is drop down option are coming from html coding and chart is coming from datadesign,so how link the two gadgets.
please help quickly.

Hi gyan,
Why don't you consider using data selector gadget and link it up with your chart gadget. Here is the link to my blog that explains how the linking can be achieved:

averma thanks for your reply.yes this is one of the solution but the problem is we want coded html in the dashboard and want to link data with that as the data which we are giving in the html doesnot come from any datasource.so how to link the html data to the chart or other reports.thanks in advance

One way to achieve this would be to create a BIRT report that contains your HTML and define parameters in it (you could change the value of these parameters within your report). Now use this BIRT report in your dashboard and link it with other chart or report gadgets.

i have tried to implement it in other way round i have putted the data in a excel file and extract it by making a datadesign file and use it with data selection gadget.but if we want to interlink with the chart it is not happening we dont have prior experience on birt so not sure how to link the unrelated gadgets with script.do you know any link where we can go and read about doing scripting in birt.we are working on a poc for one of our client we are expecting a great businees from this.below is the link which we referred.thanks in advance.

With that approach you should be able to just link up those two gadgets without the need of any scripting. Check out my blog on linking gadgets, it has a short how to video in it:

the problem is different kpi is there in diffrent excel sheet and we are extracting data for (region, node and kpi) from another excel sheet so the automatic linking donot seems to be possible.also we are expecting on a click of perticular kpi a new chart gadget appears.

You can create multiple data sources within the same BIRT report and provide a more specific chart visualization for each kpi when clicked with drill down reporting. If you want to provide me with details, perhaps I can suggest a more specific solution.
