GodBlessMe
In a workflow Can we pick the list of approvers/contributors names from some other files than the .uid files say some unames.txt ?

Yes you can. You can display whatever info you want - after all, you build the HTML that displays each item in the TAG_info section.

So can I have
my($reviewer_html) = get_names_from_file(undef, 1, undef,
"$app/approvers.txt");
Instead of
my($reviewer_html) = get_names_from_file(undef, 1, undef,
"$roles/editor.uid");
?

Yes - as long as that other file provides entries that look the same as a standard conf/roles/*.uid file.
If you want something fancier, you'll have to create your own routine for parsing the fancier format to produce the desired results.

Here's an example of how you might set this up (this is from a Solaris machine):
Given a file containing a list of people in this format:
David Smith,dsmith,davidh.smith,
Foo Bar,foob,foo.bar,
I put this code in my wft file to create the HTML I need to display this list of people:
# grab list of Users
if (!open USERS, "<../../conf/roles/technical.dat")
{
$users_html = "<input type='text' value='--Error opening technical.dat ---'>",
}
else
{
@user
= <USERS>;
@user
= map { s/^\s*//gs; s/\s*$//gs; /([^,]+),([^,]+),[^,]*/;
" <option value='$2'>$1\n"
} sort
@user
;
unshift
@user
, "<select size=5>\n";
push
@user
, "</select>\n";
$users_html = join('',
@user)
;
}
In my TAG_info section, it looks like this:
iw_author => [ html => $users_html,
label => "</strong><font size=-1>" .
"Select Author</font><strong>",
],
It looks crappy without the indentation, but I haven't figured out how to indent in DevNet posts. Anyway, you get the picture.
