Page break in cross tab ?
germobirt
I've no page break in my cross tab.
My cross tab has approx. 60 columns.
Even with landscape I see only 30 columns on the 1st page.
The other columns I would like to see on a 2nd page.
Using Birt 2.6.2 I need a way to see the rest of the columns that are right now cutted off.
In the preview I see all columns (but without grids)!
In a PDF or Excel file is only one page with half of the columns.
The most right ones from the preview are cutted off.
best regards

So, <br />
<br />
I did a big leap forward! ^_^ <br />
<br />
For wide cross tabs the general <span class='bbc_underline'>Layout Preference</span> should be <strong class='bbc'>'Auto Layout'</strong> not 'Fixed Layout'!<br />
<br />
Now the preview shows all columns with a grid and the result in at least 3 output formats is ok.<br />
It is ok in <br />
<span style='color: #2E8B57'><ul class='bbc'><li>HTML</li><li>EXCEL</li><li>Web Viewer</li></ul></span><br />
<br />
It is still cutted off in <br />
<span style='color: #FF0000'><ul class='bbc'><li>PDF</li><li>DOC</li></ul></span><br />
<br />
<strong class='bbc'>So what is the problem with that page break issue in PDF (&DOC)?</strong><br />

P.S.<br />
In crystal reports I've done this many years before.<br />
There I can see in the preview the page break and have it in the pdf.

If you select your crosstab, go to the column area section of the property editor, then to the page break section, you can set a page break interval on your columns of 30 or whatever amount you'd like to be on one page. Hope this helps.

Thanks, this helps. It's better then nothing. :rolleyes:
But the best solution would be to have page break when the pages ends!
My column area has 3 levels.
And how many colums each level will have differs from run to run, depending on the sql where clause.
So now i defined to have a page break always in level 2.
It's ok <_< , because nothing is cutted of in the PDF, but there's a lot white space on most pages.
An option like keep groups together (as long as space is) would be good, or do page break when page ends.
I fear there is not such an option, or?
:unsure:

If you had widths set on your measure columns, you should be able to set a page break interval that leaves not too much white space. If you can reproduce the issue in a way I can see exactly what's happening, in a way I can run it, that'd be great. If you'd like to request an enhancement for crosstab page breaking, you can do so in the eclipse.org bugzilla.

<p>Sorry to resurrect an old thread, but the topic is exactly the problem I'm experiencing with my crosstab report. Has something changed in the properties since this OP. I'm using BIRT 4.3 and I see no property to manually set the column size. I can adjust the size in the layout, however.</p><p> </p><p>Nonetheless, regardless of any page break property I set, the report still gets truncated in pdf and docx output. Setting page breaks should be a no-brainer, so it's exceedingly frustrating to be forced to scour years of forum posts just to find an answer.</p><p> </p><p>What am I missing?</p><blockquote class="ipsBlockquote" data-author="mwilliams" data-cid="100056" data-time="1336419961"><div><p>If you had widths set on your measure columns, you should be able to set a page break interval that leaves not too much white space.</p></div></blockquote>
