Can you try creating a new report that uses the sample database, instead of your own and see if there is an issue? If that still doesn't work. Can you try installing the Eclipse BIRT All-In-One, from eclipse.org/birt, then trying it again? Let me know. Thanks!

I tried to preview the report using Eclipse BIRT All-in-one and it worked.

Please let me know what configuration to do in web.xml or if any other libraries or files to be added to view birt report at run time
Did you rename the "WebViewerExample" to "Report" in your app server?
chandrapal
Hi ,
I also got same problem while running Birt report i also deployed Birt Runtime and all things needed.
But got the same problem.
Error=The requested URL /birt/frameset was not found on this server.
url=
http://localhost/birt/frameset? __report=test_report.rptdesign

mwilliams
Did you name the web viewer example "birt"? If so, try:
http://localhost:8080/birt/frameset?__report=test_report.rptdesign
If you didn't rename the viewer to birt, replace birt with WebViewerExample and it should work. Let me know.
chandrapal
Hi mwilliams,

Thankx for reply,
I already tried with default(WebViewerExample) name and also with only birt.
And ya i can see the home page and also view Example link but when i am clicking on that i am getting only "Your browser sent a request that this server could not understand "error.

When i am running my report from eclipse and run with View Report in webviewer option i am getting "Problem accessing /viewer/frameset. Reason:

Class org.apache.jasper.servlet.JspServlet does not implement the requested interface javax.servlet.Servlet" error.

ThankX in advance.
mwilliams
Can you show me a screenshot of your Tomcat directory, where you deployed the viewer? Also, can you attach a screenshot of the address bar of your browser, so I can see the full URL? Thanks.
chandrapal
Hi mwilliams,

sorry mwilliams there was a mistake from my side,i was deploy report in apache server but now i installed tomcat and it works great.

But now there is another problem in which i have to pass multiple argument at url from other application but birt take only first argument from url.

i am using parameter for dynamic url passing that is

select *
from birt_test where rollno > ? and id =?

so in this case i want to pass multiple value at id from url.
so can you help me to sort out this problem?
Thanks
mwilliams
You should be able to pass it as a comma separated string. What are you currently trying to do?
chandrapal
I already passed argument with comma with 'and' and all combination but it will take only firtst argument.
I am just tring to call birt report from other application through passing url in which i am giving arguments for refining data,i got static report already but cant get customize report.
mwilliams
Sorry for the delay in response. You will need to format the string you pass to be in the right format, once you have it in BIRT. That's my guess. Can you attach your design that you're having issues with? Or what is your BIRT version? I'll make an example.
chandrapal
Its Okay mwilliams,

I done of passing multiple argument(id) from openerp to birt report via url by writing following script at before open of database.

if (params["product_id_main_para"].equals("*")) {
this.queryText = "select purchase_order.id,purchase_order.partner_ref,purchase_order.amount_tax,purchase_order.validator,purchase_order_line.name,purchase_order.create_date,purchase_order.name,purchase_order_line.product_qty,purchase_order_line.price_unit from purchase_order,purchase_order_line";
} else {
var endOfQuery = "WHERE purchase_order.id = purchase_order_line.order_id and purchase_order.id IN(' " + params["product_id_main_para"].value.replace(/,/g," ',' ") + " ')";
this.queryText = "select purchase_order.id,purchase_order.partner_ref,purchase_order.amount_tax,purchase_order.validator,purchase_order_line.name,purchase_order.create_date,purchase_order.name,purchase_order_line.product_qty,purchase_order_line.price_unit from purchase_order,purchase_order_line " + endOfQuery;
}
//For String parameters--- IN (' " + params["custList"].value.replace(/,/g," ',' ") + " ')"

Thanks,
mwilliams

If viewing in the web viewer from the designer, you shouldn't need to install anything else. Can you try re-installing BIRT to see if you got a bad download?

tried re-install multiple times, but no use. It works ok within preview and also If I view it on apache/BIRT viewer but if I open it in BIrt Designer Web viewer, it does not work

Arif

mwilliams

Can you go to the preferences -> report design -> preview and check the use external browsers check box?

Arif shah

Yes, I have tried both external and internal and also tried checking different browsers

mwilliams

What is your BIRT version and what version of Java are you using?

Arif shah

My Birt version seems to be 4.3.1. I had downloaded it only a week ago from ecliple and I had downloaded it with all in one package. I had installed jdk-8u5-windows-x64.exe
