Hi,
Scenario:
An Author/Editor creates a DCR and clicks save. The onSaveDone event is caught via FormAPI, and an *.ipl script is invoked. The script generates a file (iwpt_compile). Now inorder to deploy this file, what would be the way ?
Is it possible to execute a OpenDeploy script with a single file ?
any help will be appreciated thx.

In order to deploy the file, you would have to create a filelist with the relative path to that file (relative to the sourceFilesystem area in the OpenDeploy configuration file) and have OpenDeploy use that filelist (generally specified as a variable in the config file and passed in on the command line using the '-k var=val' syntax)

We do something similar to what you are looking for. During a Task in our workflow we get the location of the generated xml file and then use perl to copy the file over to our local drive.
Or, using the info from ghoti's post you could use perl to edit the file that contains the list and add your new file to it using perl. This is riskier.
We user Windows 2000 and were unable to copy the file over to a mapped drive due to Teamsite services running as system.

Hi Fish,
Just a silly question. The filelist.txt's location is defined in the deployment script, so how can I pass a filelist to the CLT ? And which CLT are you referring to ?
Thx VaHu

Please read the OpenDeploy documentation - specifically the section on "Parameter Substitution" - in my 5.5.1 manual it's on page. 265

vahu,
Fish is referring to the iwodstart clt, it is located in the <od-home>\bin directory. For information on how to use this clt, please refer to the OD Admin Guide. But here's a quick how to on passing variables to an od conf file.
iwodstart has a -k option that allows for key/value substitutions. So if you wanted to pass area and filelist to a deployment, you would first need to modify the deployment file. The keys in the deployment file start with $ and end with ^. So we're going to add two keys, 'myarea' and 'myfilelist'. To do this we modify the area and filelist attributes of the element sourceFilesystem in the deployment file to look like this:
area="$myarea^"
filelist="$myfilelist^"
Then lets say we have a perl script that has the area in a variable called $area and the location of the filelist in a variable called $filelist. We would then call iwodstart like this:
<od-home>\bin\iwodstart <deployment name> -k myarea=$area -k myfilelist=$filelist
Hope this helps,
