How to pass parameters from java code & map it to parameters in Birt Report

Hello All,
I am trying to pass parameters from java and map it to the parameters in birt report.
I have an ID & two date fields. I want to generate the report in pdf format according to the report parameters.
Can anyone help?

Well. By creating a map & passing the map parameters onto the BirtEngine did help. & passing the same parameters as in the birt report.
