Grouping Inside the master page header
ELY_Che
Hello ,
A business in a report requires a grouping inside the header in the master page.
Since i need to set a link between 2 different data sets A and B ,
The Data set B takes as parameter a field from data set A which this field is also a grouping containing the whole data.
Since we cannot add a table inside the master page header i cannot create a grouping .
My question is next : is it possible to fetch a grouping result from the body and include it in the header ?

I believe you should be able to use page variables, if using BIRT 2.5 or greater, to display information from the page on your masterpage.

Hello ,
Thanks for the reply,
Can you please specify what you mean with Page variables ?

If you go to the data explorer, you'll see a section called "Variables". Here, you can create a variable by right clicking and choosing to add a new variable. In the new variable wizard, you can decide if it'll be a page or report variable. You can set your page variable values in the onPageEnd script with data you've gotten from the table in the body. Now, in the master page, you can go to the palette and find the auto text for displaying your page variable. As you update the page variable value, this auto text element will be updated as well, so you can grab your group value in your table and display it in your page header.
Hope this helps.
