Slow report parameter page loading

Dear all,

Firstly I am a complete newbie to BIRT so thanking you in advance for your patience!
I am supporting an application which also has a reporting portal which uses reports designed in BIRT.
When our users run the reports they are first presented with a report parameter page which consists of various parameters and most of the parameters are selected using drop down boxes and very few parameters are actually entered manually by the users.

The issue is that the report parameter page takes ages to load up as the system takes a long time to query the database and populate all the options that are shown in the drop down boxes. The report portal is running on a weblogic server and sometimes the weblogic thread itself times out before the parameter page can come up.
So it was suggested that is it possible that instead of the parameter options being populated from the DB we can have them just shown as a '*' in the parameter page and left to the user to fill in manually.

Please suggest how this can be done. Thanks!

So, you simply want to change the parameters from dynamically filled list boxes to text boxes? If so, you should just need to open the design, then open each parameter and change the type from list box to text box. I don't believe there is anything else you'd need to change.
