Using Maximo properties with Birt?

I'm working on an actuate to birt conversion. I use reports in Maximo. I'm not really that technical but I know when I used actuate when it was out of the box in maximo it would pick up on certain maximo properties. The one I'm most concerned about is a maximo property called mxe.doclinks.path02 that updates links to photos. When i attach a photo it's attached with the following url: \\camsprdactjam1\d$\DOCLINKS\photo1.jpg this property finds the '\\camsprdactjam1\d$\DOCLINKS' section and substitutes it with 'http://camsengprd:7001/DOCLINKS'. When this happens my photo1.jpg image displays properly when i generate my report.

Since Birt is now out of box with my new maximo version does anyone know how to apply the maximo properties to the Birt report?

You would use the same BIRT element property as used in Actuate defined in the report design. Actuate .rod had the property 'Hyperlinks', the same property in the BIRT .rptdesign is used to define in the link for your .jpg file.

The hyperlink property does work when I use it, the image just doesn't display. When the report generate the image just has an X but when I click the X it opens a new window that displays the image on its own. I'm trying to get the images to show at run time in my report. Any ideas on how to fix this issue? I know in actuate I had to set the Embedded property to ImageViewTime on the image control for it to display when I ran the report, is there something like that in BIRT?

Try zipping up your image file then when you import the report select your image.zip as the report resource file.
