My task is to implement log4j for BIRT ODA plugin.
Any suggestions would be very helpful.

If you go to start a new project, under BIRT, you'll find the ODA wizard projects, that'll help you with the initial setup. From there, downloading the source for one of the default ODA's would help you figure out more about where to do what. What do you send your log output to? Not just a flat file that you can use the standard flat file ODA for?

Thanks for your quick reply.
My problem is to use log4j in my ODA plugin. I tried to integrate it by creating a log4j.properties file and invoke my application by specifying runtime parameter like shown below:

-Djava.util.logging.config.file=log4j.properties
but it seems that logs are not generated on console and not written in file as well.

I have no problem if you would suggest me to integtate java.util.logging.

Please suggest some approach for the same.

Oh. My mistake. So, you're trying to integrate logging into an ODA that you're writing? Or you just want logging in your report?
