Maximo BIRT Excel output problem

User is able to generate Maximo Query report output, however, when they try to open the Excel file, the message indicates Excel was able to open the file by repairing or removing the unreadable content. The Excel workbook is blank.
The user is able to successfully generate the report for a one month period, however, any date range greater is unsuccessful.
Other users are able to generate this same report for up to a 1 year period from other locations. Any ideas?

Is it possible that they are hitting the 64K cell limit in Excel?
