how can i give BIRT a list of objects as input data?

Is it possible to binding list of pojo as dataset via report engine api just like how we bind data in jasper or pentaho(for example, binding map that contains key and java object as data source, the key will match the object in report design file)

ps: i've been looking through vogella's tutorial on birt & POJO's
http://www.vogella.de/articles/EclipseBIRT/article.html but this force user to call the java method to get data which i do not want to do.

I've not used pentaho or jasper, myself. Can you explain more about what you want to do vs using a scripted dataSource to access the POJO? Thanks.

pentaho and jasper provide api that can bind the pojo directly to report design file. for example, if you use java, you can create Map<key, value> to holds all of data (data set in birt) and use api to bind it directly to report design file without doing parse/iterator.

On birt, it seems it has similar api to store on application context level. for example, task.getAppContext().put("myobject", objectinstance); and then callning reportContext.getAppContext().get("myobject") on report design file(I tried this, it seems didn't work probably).
