Excel Emitter Embeded in BIRT exe
srikala
Hi Williams
We are facing issue when we want to view our reports in excel. For this we tried including Excel emitter and its working fine from Ecclipse, but without ecclipse when try to run the reports using BIRT.EXE,what we are looking is is there any birt exe that has inbuilt excel emitter in it, so that we need not include any emitters by dropping the jar files.
"The runtime engine only looks in its own jar file for any emitters, it will not look at or use external jars. So even though I am packaging the new emitter with the batch job, it?s not getting used."
Please help!

So, your issue isn't with using the BIRT RCP designer, it's when you're trying to run the reports, using the report engine? What version of BIRT are you using? Let me know.

3.7.1 is the ecclipse version.

With 3.7, you have a POJO runtime, so as long as the plugin is within the class/build path of the application, it should find it. Which external XLS emitter are you trying to use?

Hi William

We are using xls emitter. But the run time is not recognising the emitter even when placed in the class/build path of the application.

You're using the standard XLS emitter? In 3.7, the standard emitter is rolled up into the runtime jar file. Let me know.

Hi Williams

Sorry we are not using standard xls emitter, we are using "NativeExcelPlugin"(org.eclipse.birt.report.engine.emitter.nativexls_1.0.0.201110122114)

When we try to generate reports from ecclipse IDE its working , but not working when we try to render the reports from birt runtime.

Here is the scenario.

we need to display logo on our excel reports.
we are rendering our birt reports from runtime and the version we are using is birt 3.7.1.
Becoz we want to display logo in our excel reports, we tried downloading an xls emitter and placing in the class path, but in runtime its not working even if we place it in the build or class path.

If you have any other emitter that will work in redering reports from runtime and also display the logo in the excel, kindly provide us with the emitter information. We will download the same and use it.

We need it asap.

Thanks and Regards
Srikala.

Have you tried setting the emitter ID render option, via the report design, with something like:
reportContext.getRenderOption().setOption(IRenderOption.EMITTER_ID, "org.uguess.birt.report.engine.emitter.xls"); //You'll have to use the id of the xls emitter you're trying to use.
