Seems like caching is not working

Hi, 
 
im using the birt report viewer (webviewerexample) in my webapp on a tomcat server. Seems like report caching is not working

Im running a example report. It has no report parameters, no custom script code, just a dataset. The sql-query takes around 3 seconds to run on mysql server (ive run the sql with heidisql-tool). 
 
But every time i run the report in my birt-webapp, it takes around 11-12 seconds. Makes me wonder if the caching is working or not ? ive tried to run the report with true and false with overwrite-parameter too, with same slow response:

The result that is given back is shown in 1972 pages in birt report viewer, maybe its so slow when i get many pages ? 
 
Any idea what i should check to see if caching is working or not ?

Do you mean caching the report or the datasets in a report. __overwrite should be set to false if you want to use the same rptdocument. You can also specify a rptdocument using the __document url parameter.

it works to cache the rptdocument when i use the __document url. 
 
The reason i want to cache is to make a report, that does sort dynamically on a report-column-header when a user clicks on it. For example i want the user to be able to sort on Firstname,Lastname,Address so on..., without the delay/overhead of 10 seconds. 
 
I am able to sort by columns with putting the code stated below (in onPrepare script for the table), but the sorting is done only when i DON't use __document=.. in my url. Is it possible to use the __document and sort ? i dont want the re-generation of the report and then sort,takes a lot of time :
