Birt and WebServices OdaException

Hi

We have 2 servers (1 hosts the Birt application and 1 hosts webservices).

When a report gets generated Birt calls a webservices on server no.2 and once the response is received it generates the pdf and finally returns it to the user.

We have noticed that under heavy load we start getting these exceptions in the logs and birt for starts generating blank pdf files which are returned to the users.

Question 1 :
Why does this happpen?

Question 2 :
How can i extend the timeout period so that the Birt engine will wait longer for its response from this webservice?

Question 3 :
If i cannot do that how would i have Birt automatically retry the whole request until the webservice responds?
