dynamically update the parameter value

Hi

We have requirement to update the parameter(Par_PrevDate) dynamically in one of the BIRT Report. This parameter will be used by rest of the 10 data sets to execute report on the launch. The value for this parameter from one data set called get_prior_date which will have one value at any point of time. We are able to set the static parameter values in reportdesign-beforefactory event as below and rest of datasets executing based on this parameter.

reportContext.setParameterValue("Par_PrevDate","29-Feb-2012");

Is there any way we can set the above value dynamically by taking the value dataset get_prior_date.

The get_prior_date dataSet will only have a single value, for a given report, that will be used for all dataSets? Is this correct? What is your BIRT version?

correct, the other data sets should take the firt dataset1 value as input parameter. We are using birt version 2.2.1. We are using Oracle Stored Procedures for data set type.

You should be able to put a text box bound to the get_prior_date dataSet at the top of your report and set the value of the parameter, in the onFetch script of the dataSet. This dataSet will run first, setting the value, then, it'll be set to use in the other dataSets of the elements that follow your text box. Let me know if this doesn't work for you.
