The playOrm project is pioneering partitioning in noSQL systems as many OLTP systems want to partition their data so all their customers data (and those customers' customers) are in a single partition. These customers than require reports.

playOrm is one of the first systems that does JOINS in noSQL but within partitions. As an example, a 100 row results was returned from a query to 1,000,000 rows that existed in one partition. Joins are on-par with a DBMS. And companies really want reports within partitions in general. We expose a S-SQL interface (Scalable SQL) and if wondering if anyone has time to write a BIRT connector so that BIRT can do reports into noSQL partitions very easily for users.
