calculating average in dataset

Hey,

I want to find average in the dataset columns. Columns A,B are fetched from the database.
A B
1 5
2 10
2 5
3 20
4 10
5 15
Now i want to get average of column B for distinct values of column A. i.e result should be
A B C
1 5 5
2 10 7.5
2 5
3 20 20
4 10 10
5 15 15

Does anyone have any idea about this?

When you drag your data set over to the report design, you can drag a Aggregation component into either the header or footer of the table. Then just set the column you want, and set the aggregation type to Avg. Check the documentation under help, and here on the Birt Exchange for a tutorial on how to use Aggregations in a table.
