Hi,

I am new to BIRT and I am sure this is a simple question, but I am struggling.

I want to add a count of records (which I have calculated using a a computed columns in the data set) to a scatter chart title. I have already included the prompt value and using the description from a previous question ( http://www.birt-exchange.org/org/forum/index.php/topic/21243-setting-chart-title-based-on-field-in-the-dataset/) I have tried the following:

Dataset - onFetch:
reportContext.setPersistentGlobalVariable("SolicitorCount", row["NumberofClaims"]);

Chart - onRender:
function beforeGeneration(chart, icsc)

{

var title = 'Solicitor: '

title = title+ icsc.getExternalContext().getScriptable().getParameterValue("RPSolicitor")

title = title+ '\n' +'Number of settled cases:'

title= title+ icsc.getExternalContext().getScriptable().getPersistentGlobalVariable("SolicitorCount")

chart.getTitle().getLabel().getCaption().setValue(title)

}

The prompt works, but the count is shown as null.

I am using version 3.7.2.

Can anyone explain where I have gone wrong?

This is what I've done to get essentially the same thing working the code is onRender() for my graph.

Thanks kclark, I have entered exactly what you have suggested and I removed my final addition to my title (referring to the GlobalPersistantVariable) and added temp in it's place and it works perfectly.
