birt 360 dashboard: Creating a data source for a data visualization
chavez_ant
I've used BIRT Designer quite a bit for creation of reports. We're running the created reports in a web application. So I am familiar with creation of data sources for birt reports.
However, I am evaluating iServer, since the BIRT 360 dashboard feature is of interest. I'd like to test creation of data visualizations gadget, using my own data source - an sql query from an oracle database. I try and drag a line chart or a table to my dashboard and am prompted for my data source. I click 'use data from' and nothing is selectable.
My reports get their connection data from a ".aconnprofiles" file and from data sources/sets pointing to the connection info in a rptlibrary file. I've tried uploadinh these files to the "Resources" folder and still do not see any options for the 'data visualizations' to feed from.
I've read through a lot of documentation and not found a solution yet. Does anyone here have a suggestion? Is it possible to simply enter the connection information and query, parameters, from scratch, into the web interface and use that as the connection info?
Thanks,
A.C.

BIRT 360 dashboards can contain gadgets that are source from BIRT Reports (whole reports or reportlets) and from BIRT Data Objects. BIRT Data Objects (.datadesign) define data sources, data sets, data cubes, shared dimensions, and parameters. BIRT Data Objects can be materialized and stored in the iServer as .data files.
BIRT Data Objects are created in the Actuate BIRT Designer Professional and are published to the Resources directory of the iServer.
I would suggest reviewing the following manual for more information:
