Formatting Object output

Hello All,

Pretty new to Birt reporting, still learning

- nice tool at this point.

Currently I am working on a report where I output some values collected in an application. I am trying to pass pojo's to the dataset - thus using object toString() to print a userfriendly version of the data. With this method I can have a consistent view on the data from the UI and my reports. Could be very nice.
I have made custom aggregation functions to work on my pojos to give sane results and all.

But now I am facing the issue that I would like to gain access to the properties that the user adds in the "Format Number" properties in the Layout view. Is this somewhat possible programatically?

Are you trying to change the format of numbers in your script?

Or are you trying to allow the user to pick the format he would like?

Thanks for the reply, but sorry for not being clear in my question.

What I would like to have access to is the pattern that the report designer have added to the existing number formatting field.

If you're trying to get the number format of an object this is how I did it.

var numFormat = this.getStyle().numberFormat;
reportContext.getDesignHandle().findElement("output").text = numFormat;
</pre>
 
I put this in onPrepare() of my rows["CREDITLIMIT"] and then showed the output in a label output. 
 
Which gives me this output
