Take a look at this devShare post. It'll link you to a blog showing how to use the tag library to embed the birt viewer into jsp pages.

I guess we should work on deploying BIRT, first. What you'll need to do is download the BIRT Runtime, for the vesion of designer you're using. Inside this download, you'll find a folder called "WebViewerExample". To deploy this to Tomcat, you'd first install Tomcat, then copy the WebViewerExample folder into your webapps. I would also recommend changing the name of the WebViewerExample folder to "birt" or something application specific. Once you've done all of this and have started your Tomcat server, you can test that everything is working by going to
http://localhost:8080/birt/
, where birt is what you renamed the WebViewerExample folder. Let me know when you get to this point or if you encounter issues.

hi williams,<br />
<br />
Again thanks for your reply..i have done all the steps ..but i got a <strong class='bbc'><span style='font-size: 18px;'>"The requested resource (/birt) is not available."</strong></span>error .what can i do?even localhost:8080/examples was not running..but i can run the simple web aplication like servlet programs,jsp,etc.Please help me to proceed further.i used a birt all-in-one pack for design and birt runtime 4.2.1.one more thing i can't find the engineapi.jar,modelapi.jar,coreapi.jar in lib directory.<br />

Did you put the WebViewerExample from the runtime into your webapps and rename it "birt"? Take a look at this page and make sure you've done everything:
