Discrepancy in Birt-Layout after Upgrade
Mr.Reed
Hi there,
up to now we were using Birt 2.6.1 (in a j2ee-application we are using the report engine to generate pdfs from a birt report). After upgrading to Birt 4.2.1 we assert that there are differences between the report generated before with Birt 2.6.1 and now (after saving the birt report with Birt 4.2.1).
For example:
- With Birt 4.2.1 inconsistencies between data set and data binding seem to be checked more stringent now. Report items won't be print in the result pdf, e.g. if a decimal attribute is from type decimal in the data binding, but in the data set it is string. After correcting that circumstance (changing the attribute from string to decimal in the data set), the report item is print again.
- With Birt 4.2.1 the layout, especially padding or line height, seems to be different. After upgrading the line heigt is smaller, what means that text is more compact.
Anyone experienced similar "problems" ?? Or is this behaviour correct?
Thanks in advance...
Marco

Do you have a report you can attach that shows this? I'd like to see an example of what worked for you in 2.6.1 and is no longer working in 4.2.1. You can also file a bug at www.eclipse.org/birt

These are probably all correct. There were some sizing issues that were fixed, I believe in 3.7, that probably explains the issue you're having with the size. Everything should be more exact now. The first one seems like a fix to something that shouldn't have been allowed before, but I don't know this one, for sure.
