FIxed lenght of character.

Hi All,

I have just started using birt and still exploring it.

In my report i want to fixed the length of my column to 10 Character(and not inn,cm,pix,etc) ,how can i achieve this.

Please help.

Welcome vijuagrawa! To output x characters in your table you could use something like this in the onRender() of that table object. 
 
<pre class='_prettyXprint _lang-auto _linenums:0'>this.setDisplayValue(BirtStr.left(this.getValue(), 10));</pre>
 
Which will output the first 10 characters. Since you know you are going to only want 10 characters each time you can set the width of that column in the designer.

but their is no option to fixed width of column based on character,there are option in in,cms,picel etc

Is the font size going to be dynamic? If it's not you could adjust the width of the table to match the 10 character limit.

If the size is dynamic,then what to do??
