Modification of parameter value if displayed as text

I'm trying to use footer to display values of report parameters. 
So I have a code like: 
 
<pre class='_prettyXprint _lang-auto _linenums:0'>
<text-property name="content"><![CDATA[
Device Family:
<value-of>params["Filter_DeviceFamily"].value
</value-of> 
]]></text-property>
</pre>
 
I would like to be able to modify what is displayed. For example if params["Filter_DeviceFamily"].value equals to some text, I would like to display something else instead. How can I do it?

Wouldn't it be easiest to insert a dynamic text and then control the output with a javascript statement in the expression builder?
