What I've done in the past was used a text object and used some html to add a background image then I put some text ontop of it using something like this<br />
<br />
<pre class='_prettyXprint _lang-auto _linenums:0'><html>
<head>
<div style="background-image:url(http://url-to-image);padding:5px;width:150px;height:200px;border:1px solid black;">
<p>Some text</p>
</div>
</body>
</html></pre>
<br />
Let me know if something like that would work for you.
