How to Schedule for Printing a Report (on specific time and date) in Birt?
skumar16jan
Dear All,
Request you to advice me on above mentioned title as I am using BIRT- Eclipse IDE for Java and Report Developers.
As i am new in BIRT Reporting Tool where i have developed almost all simple reports/layout.
But now i need to accomplish a scenario where after developing a report User must be able to print later i.e. user can schedule to print the report on specific time and date.

Hi,
the open source edition of BIRT is a reporting tool only. It ships with a ready to use BIRT Webviewer. This webviewer is very minimalistic and is not able to schedule BIRT reports. The only feature is to enter a url in a browser and get the rendered report back.
If you want to schedule reports you have two options:
1) Buy iServer. iServer is the full blown server from actuate. It adds security and scheduling and a lot more.
2) Develop scheduling functionality on your own. In BIRT reports can be generated using the report engine API. It is well documented (see:
http://www.eclipse.org/birt/phoenix/deploy/reportEngineAPI.php)
. You can use it to write some application that does the scheduling for you.

Hi CBrell,
I have successfully installed ActuateBIRTiHub.exe but facing a problem while running or scheduling the report.
I have attached sample pdf i.e. NB_SAMPLE.pdf which i got from Eclipse-BIRT Report Tool but when same report i am running in ActuateBIRT i hub server then i dont have any idea on connectivity of database.
So request you to refer the attachments and let me know how i can connect with database or what step i am missing here.

BIRT Designer Professional and <a class='bbc_url' href='

BIRT iHub</a> (was previously called iServer) includes an Oracle JDBC driver, as well as drivers to other data sources such as SQL Server, DB2, Salesforce, Hadoop, etc... It looks like your report design references a driver/JDBC URL that we do not include.<br />
<br />
However, it is possible to include 3rd party drivers. You'll need to simply place your .JAR file into the drivers directory and restart the iHub:<br />

Default Windows:<br />

After restarting the iHub, try running your report again.
