Two questions about required parameters
AnnaB
Hi all,

I have two questions about required parameters.

1. Is it possible to have "either/or" required parameters? Eg. the user needs to specify parameterFoo OR parameterBar for the report to run.

2. When using cascaded parameters, is it possible to keep the top level parameter optional, but make the second level parameter required? So if your parameters are paraFoo -> paraBar, you don't have to specify a paraFoo, but if you do, paraBar is required.

Thanks so much!

You can't do this by default from eclipse, but you can do both of these by creating a custom parameter page. <a class='bbc_url' href='

a look at this blog I wrote showing how to create a custom parameter page. Once you have created the parameters you want to work with you can use javascript on that page. How I would go about working with the either/or would be to make neither of them required in the rptdesign and then in the custom parameter page use some JavaScript to check if at least on has been used.

Excellent, thanks!
Too bad that we can't do it directly from BIRT. But I think we'll have a lot of fun with custom parameter pages.
