I would like to show / hide the chart visibility based on parameter value

e.g

if(param ==-1)
show chart 1
hide chart 2
else
show chart 2
hide chart 1

Are they the same chart showing two different types of data? If they are you could build one chart and make them dynamic in the expression builder based on the parameter from the chart UI. If they are two different charts you could get the charts by ID and drop them similar to <a class='bbc_url' href='http://www.birt-exchange.org/org/devshare/designing-birt-reports/1027-drop-a-table-based-on-a-report-parameter/'>this devshare</a>
