I am trying to migrate my application (Java 1.6, JBoss 4.5) from BIRT 2.6 to 4.2 which is big leap. I want to reach out to the BIRT experts, users for their stories, experiences, or guidance.

I don't think you should encounter a ton of issues with this move. The main changes have been bug fixes and the move to the POJO runtime. If you run into issues with the POJO runtime and don't mind the heavier OSGi runtime, it's still available. Obviously the most important thing to do is test everything. If you run into issues, let us know.
