Hi,

After retrieving the data, I am trying to read all the rows and columns in javascript, do some processing construct the separate data set and pass this input to display the graph. I am doing this in Initialize method. Below is the code snippet...

var date = dataSetRow["CREATION_DATE"] ;

While doing that I am getting this error...

ReferenceError: "dataSetRow" is not defined. (/report/method[@name="initialize"]#16)

Please help in fixing this issue...

If you want to store all of the values from a row you'll need to do this from the onFetch() of the data set. 
 
First in the beforeOpen() you'll need to create an array list and store it as a persistent global variable. 
 
<pre class='_prettyXprint _lang-auto _linenums:0'>
var array = new java.util.ArrayList();
reportContext.setPersistentGlobalVariable("array", array);</pre>
 
Then from the onFetch() of the dataset you can store the values in the array by recalling it then storing it again like this 
 
<pre class='_prettyXprint _lang-auto _linenums:0'>
var array = reportContext.getPersistentGlobalVariable("array");
array.add(row["CITY"]);
reportContext.setPersistentGlobalVariable("array", array);</pre>
 
Now you have all of the values stored you can recall them later in a label from the onCreate() like this 
 
<pre class='_prettyXprint _lang-auto _linenums:0'>var array = reportContext.getPersistentGlobalVariable("array");
this.text = array.get(0);</pre>
 
You can also recall these values later in your chart script if you need to also.

Hi, i tried your code. But is there a way to receive the values from:
<pre class="_prettyXprint _lang-js">
reportContext.setPersistentGlobalVariable("array", array);
</pre>
in the beforeFacotry() or beforeRender() on the LayoutPage? When i try to use your Code in the beforeFacotry() or beforeRender() instead of the onCreate() i get the message that array is null.
 
I receive values when i try to get the array in the afterRender() but then i can not create my table out of it.
 
Backround: I save my values from the Dataset in the array and i want to create a custom table with javascript out of it. But I can not get the values from the global variable.
 
I know i could just add:
<pre class="_prettyXprint _lang-js">
row["Lastname"] = ln_array.get(i).toString();
</pre>
to the fetch() block on the Data Set1 but i want to receive the global variable.

Where specifically are you populating the persistent global variable?
 
It sounds like you may be setting the values in a later stage of the report generation than you are trying to grab them.
 
If possible, can you attach a sample report?

Thanks for your reply. I create the persistent global variable in the beforeOpen() and on the onFetch() part of the Data Set.

Alright, that will be what is happening. beforeFactory of the report design is going to run prior to beforeOpen and onFetch of the data set.
 
What you can do is move the portion of the code that needs to use the PGV into beforeRender which will happen after onFetch of the data set.
