JVM HEAP shoot during final BIRT report Generation Phase (OutOfMemory exception)
santosh_i
Hello All,
We are using BIRT SDK and RunTime version <11.0.1> for producing reports in XLS and PDF.
Our current design is to load all the transaction records using JPA and use
IRunAndRenderTask.run method. This creates the required report in the requires format at server file system. In a nutshell, java objects are binded with BIRT reports (.rpt) to produce the desired report.
When we attempted the BIRT report generation with 1,00,000 java objects , we saw spike to the order of 1 GB. When the report was generated with 2,00,000 records , we got outOfMemory exception.
We have used Lazy retrieval strategy to load Transaction records. Its working well to contain the memory usage while loading the data. Memory spikes are witnessed during the final BIRT report generation .
Pls do do take a look @ the Image attached.
Suggestions are most welcome.
Thanks
Santosh
