Export to Excel, No auto increase in width of the data columns

<p>I am trying to export the report in xls, the data columns width is not getting auto adjusted to the data length.</p><p>I want it to auto adjust to the data length how do I do it?</p>

<p>Are you only going to be outputting to xls?  If that's the case then you can change the master page size as suggested <a data-ipb='nomediaparse' href='http://www.birt-exchange.org/forum/index.php?/topic/13434-column-width-not-preserved-when-birt-report-is-exported-to-excel/?s=5590f09c5ad505bf4696a0e16a7f2d9c'>in this thread.</a>  If you're outputting to other formats too then you'll need to check the output format of the report you'd need to do something like</p><pre class="_prettyXprint">if (reportContext.getOutputFormat() == "XLS"){//change masterpage width}</pre>
