cannot create a report in 4.3.0 with an interactive parameter. problem when using "?" in my
boulos
Hello,
I am creating a very simple report in my 4.3.0 with an interactive parameter.
Indeed, after creating my data source which is a JDBC data source and a Driver class set to "com.sybase.jdbce.jdbc.SybDataSource (v6.0)" and putting the correct URL and user/password (test connection is ok), i am not able to save my query that contains a "?"
MY query is the following:
Select
Field1,
Filed2,
Field3
from MY_TABLE where Field1 = ?
When i click on "ok" to save my query, i got this error
java.lang.StringIndexOutOfBoundsException: String index out of range : 73
Does the 4.3.0 require a new syntax for interactive parameters?
I used to follow these steps in the same order in 3.7.2 and evthg was ok. When i clicked on "Ok" i got immediately a pop up asking me if i want to create a report parameter. Why is it impossible now in 4.3.0? Why am i getting an error instead?
Could you please help?
Regards,
Boulos

<p>I'm not sure if it's different with Sybase but you'll need to create a report parameter and link your query to it from the parameters screen of the data set UI. If you don't give it a default value then you'll get an error trying to preview the results.</p>

Yes that was my trick to make it work when i created the report in 4.3.0. But this is a huge problem if my report was an old report (for instance 3.7.2) this report didnt work at all in 4.3.0. I got the same error about index out of range. Apparently, in too many cases, 4.3.0 is not backward compatible at all. Many reports (and very basic reports) need to be redesigned in order to work
