<p>hi i am new to birt</p><p> </p><p>in my project, we created around 50 reports ,for each report we created seperate datasource(but we are using same DB and Same DB IP),</p><p> </p><p> </p><p>Here problem is , In case of Change in DB IP Address or DB Name, each & every time i need to change in all 50 reports,</p><p> </p><p>please give suggestion to me ,how make common datasource for all reports,if any one provide some example means i am more happy...................</p><p> </p><p>(if it is possible give me some example or steps..)</p><p> </p><p>Advance Thanks</p><p> </p>

<p>BIRT provides connection profiles to aid in the repetitive nature of creating the same data source connection for every report. What I don't know is what happens when you update the connection parameters for the connection in the profile. But I am pretty sure the connection profile externalizes all of the connection parameters so you may be in luck. You may just have to do some testing. You can also move the data source to a report library and reference that from the many reports.
This a approach may be easier to use with a server-based installation of BIRT.
I haven't used connection profiles myself - make sure you check what gets written to the rptdesign file (just look at the XML tab).
If BIRT writes the connection string from the profile into the rptdesign it won't solve your problem.
