Iteratively display charts/tables/labels based on the content of a dataset
Nrjbhatia

Hi,

I have a requirement where I need to display charts/labels and tables based on the content of a dataset. Let me take an analogy to explain the requirement.

Let's assume that a dataset holding some data for many countries. Would it be possible to display a set of items for each country one by one. A label will display the name of a country under consideration, a chart will depict some data for that country, similarly table. All the items (label, chart and table) will be part of a grid. So essentially the script will go through the dataset and display the data.

Any pointer/reference/example would be of great help!

Thanks,

Neeraj

This sounds like a simple grouping function. Include the country as one of the fields in your dataset and then group on it in the report table.

Thanks BRM. Pardon my ignorance but don't think its so easy. Can you please confirm that on run depending on the number of distinct countries in the dataset, it will create grid, add table, label and chart; one set for each country?

I was under the impression that it is a case of defining a script to a dataset.

Regards,

Neeraj

Take a look at my example I've attached. If you create a table you could then group by what you'd like from the groups tab. Then you can place a chart in the footer of the group. This will inherit the grouping data. So for each group you'll get a chart that reflects the current grouped data.

and you can put your tables and grids in the group footer too so that they can contain aggregate data from the group.
