Controlling the size of the Text from Palette

I pull the Text from Palette to my Report Designer, it occupies the whole line from the right to the left. How can I resize it such that with the Text left aligned, then with a few space, it displays the value?e.g I want this:VALUE: 12345But I always get this:VALUE:12345
