Are you using a Text report item? How is the data stored in a long description? Is it rich text? Can you provide an example?

It's in Maximo 7.1. It is stored as plain text.

Line break is not plain text. How is the line break stored in the database? If I use the database query tool what do you see?

What happens when you copy and paste in word? What table has a long description? I looked at the long description window and there are other formatting option like bold and bullets. It might be stored as plain text but there has to be some kind of tags on the text. it could be HTML tags or RTF tags. Can you copy and paste an example in to this thread?

OK, I just found the long description table and here is an example:

This relationship was createdautomatically by Maximo. A relationship can be identified as a reference point. When that relationship is applied to a linear asset, a feature is created automatically. This feature can then be used as a reference point on work orders, much in the same way that mile posts are used.

The use case for this is cities, where they don't have mile posts. They typically use distance from an intersection to determine work location.

Note the HTML tags. So what you need is a Dynamic Text report item and make sure the property Content Type is set to HTML.
