Image scaling
bigster

Hi all,

I´m using BIRT (engine ...) to generate PDF, and i´m experience a strange behavior in the image component of my report.

I´ve a report that has a image component in it, the image component don´t have any fixed size (height or width) and when i put images that are greater than the space available it scales (shrink) the images to the size that is allowed and this scaling appears to be a width scaling because the image grows to the bottom of the component only stopping in the break of the page, but in the sides it dosen´t pass the size of the cell that includes the image component. This is ok, i don´t know how it does this but for me it´s ok.

When i want to put images that are taller than wider this is a problem and i must define a fixed height so that the image appears in the image component. For example i´ve got images that in this case appears only half of it. This is a problem but with the fixed height size the image don´t grows after that size.

The real problem is when i set the fixed height the images that are smaller than the size of the component the images scale to that size.

For example i´ve got a image that has the size of 100x100 and the height setted is 300 (height) the image gets the size of 100x300 with the decrease of the quality but scales to that size. This is wrong because in this situation the image don´t maintain the original size.

The strange thing is when i remove the fixed height the image keeps the original size, but has the problem that i talk earlier.

Does anyone have any ideas to resolve this problem of not keeping the image original size or to have scale the height without setting fixed size?

Cheers,

Bigster

Take a look at this:

<a data-ipb='nomediaparse' href='

Hi,

Thanks for the reply. I´ve look already for this topic, but i dosen´t work, smaller images gets scale to the size of the height defined.

The behavior that i´m looking is that the image keeps the original size without scaling.

I´ve applied the script but i´ve got CMYK images and the ImageIO API dosen´t support CMYK images only RGB ones.

And about the script, its strange to do image processing (or size processing) because BIRT scale the images.

Cheers,

Bigster

In many case we want to re-size images based on how much room there is on a report. I think this is the correct way to scale images so that they appear correct.

Hi,

The strange is to do the script, BIRT should deal with it on its own, without any addons.
