out of memory exception with large amount of data

i have a query with 10millions of data when i retrive i got "out of memory" exception.how to resolve this problem. i increased tomcat sever memory settings also, i am not successful in that.

May I ask what your are doing with 10,000,000 rows? Who is going to use such a report?

we have a banking application. if my customer want to see 1 year historical data,this would contain 10million records. please suggest any modifications in reportdesign to support large amount of data

The issue is not with your report but with your application. Can you try increasing Java heap size?

yes, i increased my heap size upto 3gb. but it wont work ,still i am getting out of memory exception.

try increasing more. Otherwise I have no other ideas. It really should not be a problem, I have doen this before with BIRT (commercial).
