Hi,

I need to hide the columns in the report based on the values passed in the parameter. Please help me out in the below questions

1. How to write the script to hide the column, based on the value passed?

2. Suppose if we have columns c1,c2,c3,c4,c5,c6,c7,c8,c9,c10, I need to hide the columns c4,c5,c6 and the report should be appeared with no gap which was hided. so while seeing the report it should be dispalyed in continous manner as c1,c2,c3,c7,c8,c9,c10. The hided columns gap in the report should not be shown, Kindly let me know how to do the design for the above report.

Kindly help me out ASAP.

Regards,

S.Sandeep

Well, there is a convient way to do so - You can hide or show almost any element of design depending on parameter or even data returned from database.

Check "Visibility" section in PropertiesEditor, all You need is there...

Gaps will be automatically removed, if you didn't specify manually sizes of your elements.

You might also define a new computed column that concatenates the data points.

For example:
C1, C2, and C5 are strings.
C3, C4, and C6 are integers.
If parameterVal = "odd", only show C1, C3, and C5
If parameterVal = "even", only show C2, C4, and C6
If parameterVal = "all", show all
//pseudocode!!! NOT TESTED!!!
var strVal = new String();
//Convert numbers to strings
var strC3 = new String(C3);
var strC4 = new String(C4);
var strC6 = new String(C6);
if (params["Caller"].value=="odd")
{
strVal = C1+", "+strC3+", "+C5;
}
else if (params["Caller"].value=="even")
{
strVal = C2+", "+strC4+"", "+strC6;
}
else
{
strVal = C1+","+C2+", "+strC3+", "+strC4+", "+C5+", "+strC6;
}
strVal;

Brian

Your problem may be caused by specifying absolute sizes/positions for your visual elements (columns, cells, rows, etc.), avoid this without serious needs (acutually, I know very few such cases, when this is appliciable). Trust your grid container, grid is a good way to place elements.

also make sure padding is set to 0
