DataDeploy

Ashley

I am having difficulty finding a decent explanation of the following tags that sit within the destination section of the datadeploy config file.

<update></update>

At present if I try to run the configuration file with both a select and update I get the error:

column is present in both and <update>

where the code reads:

<column name="oneliner" value-from-field="oneliner">

<update>
<column name="oneliner" value-from-field="oneliner">
</update>

Note: the field name in the template and the database are both named the same.

The configuration file is pushing data from teamsite templating records to a SQL Server 2000 database.

I would really gratefull if someone could point me in the right direction as to where I am going wrong. On running the config file at present I have esablished that it is connecting to the database server & reading in the teamsite templating records but is just failing to push the data into the database.

I believe the columns specified in should be those that specify a unique identification for the particular row you wish to update, and that the columns specified in <update> are the columns within the row selected that you wish to modify.

I am pretty sure (98%) that you cannot use the same columns for both select and update (within the same transaction)

Thanks for your reply:

So if i wanted to read data from the tempalting field "oneliner" and insert this into the database field "oneliner" what should the select + update statements look like?

I think you'll need to provide more detailed information about the table / schema that you are using, and the data that you are trying to update.

Show examples of the kind of data that exists in your DB table (a row of data) and then another example of how you want to change that information.

You may also need to attach your DataDeploy configuration file (please attach, do not in-line it)

The database schema is as follows:

tbl_pressrelease
---------------------------------------------------
Field Name: Data Type:
---------------------------------------------------
pressrelease_id int(4)
firstname nvarchar(50)
surname nvarchar(50)
content_owner_email nvarchar(50)
expiry_date char(7)
image char(7)
print_friendly_page char(7)
email_feature char(7)
meta_description nvarchar(100)
additional_keywords nvarchar(250)
meta_keywords nvarchar(250)
oneliner varchar(72)

Note: All the above fields with the exception of the primary key pressrelease_id allow null values

The table currently has no records (rows) and I am looking to insert the content from the temsite template into this table. Rather than try to pull all these fields I have opted to just populate one for testing purposes

The field I am trying to capture looks like the following in the teamsite template:

Enter a 'oneliner' to appear on the press release index page. This can also be selected for the homepage newsitems. (Maximum 60 characters).

<database data-type="VARCHAR(72)" />
<text required="t" size="50" maxlength="60" />

I have attached a copy of the configuration file I am currently using

Thanks for your help,
Ashley
