How to update BIRT?

[font="calibri;"]I am running 4.2 all in one, and when I go to [/font] [font="calibri;"]Preferences > Install/Update > Available Software Sites [/font] [font="calibri;"]There is no site listed. This means when I click search for updates I donâ€™t find any updates. I know the most current version is 4.3.1 and I want to update.[/font] [font="calibri;"]I did some looking around and found a blog [/font]<a data-ipb='nomediaparse' href='http://birtworld.blogspot.com/2006/01/birt-update-manager.html'>[font="calibri;"][color=rgb(0,0,255);]http://birtworld.blogspot.com/2006/01/birt-update-manager.html[/color][/font]</a>[font="calibri;"] suggesting this [/font]<a data-ipb='nomediaparse' href='http://download.eclipse.org/birt/update-site/'>[font="calibri;"][color=rgb(0,0,255);]http://download.eclipse.org/birt/update-site/[/color][/font]</a>[font="calibri;"] as the correct address to use, but when I look for update it says none found. [/font] [font="calibri;"]What is the address to use when searching for updates from BIRT? Or is it just better to go to [/font]<a data-ipb='nomediaparse' href='http://www.eclipse.org/birt/phoenix/'>[font="calibri;"][color=rgb(0,0,255);]http://www.eclipse.org/birt/phoenix/[/color][/font]</a>[font="calibri;"] download and install from there?[/font]

When I update I like to download from eclipse.org/birt because I work with other languages and use my other installed eclipse for CDT and some other tools. If your wanting to upgrade from inside of eclipse you'd use the update URL's from the link you have above. Some of those require additional repo's to be added. Once you have everything then you should be able to update from help > check for updates. I just tried this in 4.3.0 and it found some BIRT updates, let me know if this works for you.

Not sure how my update sites came to be missing from 4.2.1. But what I ended updoing was gettting the update sites from a different version then modfifing the end of the links to my version. At first I though it did as a new report said it was created in 4.3.1 but none of the emitters are present in the updated version, checking for more updates finds none. A direct download seems to be working ok so far, but still exploring.

On a side note, on Linux systems I've had weird problems installing/upgrading BIRT. To get around this I launched Eclipse with sudo and did the install/upgrade and it works much better.
