Dynamic URL creation for drill down reports
Shuanak17

Hi,

I need a way to create a url dynamically for the drill down reports. This is because I am passing session ID as parameter in the drill down and the value always changes, so need to send the correct session id every time the user clicks on the link.

For example: Here is the link:

"https://vm-w2k8-49-153/birtservlets/frameset?__document=/documents/Fabric_Summary_Report-Administrator-20131217_160548.rptdocument&paraSessionId=WVuoiL+SLUuEHbpepE-TqMS6&__showtitle=false"

As
shown in red/brown the value of the parameter paraSessionId needs to be passed in every time, as it is necessary to pass the value of the current session.

Is there any guide that I can follow that will tell how to create a dynamic URL for drill down reports?

Thanks and Regards,

-Shaunak,

Is the session passed to the report you are linking from? How does the report know what the session ID is?

Yes the session is passed to the report as a parameter. However the Drill down URL gets created a lot earlier and when the session expires the drill down url still has old session id and it then fails to launch the report.

So these reports i am trying to launch are stored as rptdocuments and then they are rerun.. so the Session ID for drill down gets generated when the report is launched for first time from the rptdesign file. But when it is rerun using the corresponding rptdocument the drill down URL's have some expired session ids stored in them.

So I need a way to either replace this SessionID parameter at runtime or create the entire URL at runtime so that it will always have the current session id.

Thanks and Regards,

-Shaunak.

The only way I can see this working is to use render events and have the session ID accessible somehow via the HTTP request.

reportContext.getHttpServletRequest()
